It may surprise you to learn there were no chiles at all in China before the 1570s. Introduced from the Americas, chile peppers struggled to gain a foothold in China, but are now so common many Chinese assume them to be native. Professor Brian Dott will tell how chilies arrived in China and how this transition from obscurity to ubiquity took place.  You will receive the link for the program in the reminder email.
