The Living and the Lost by Ellen Feldman

A brother and sister, teenagers who narrowly escaped the Nazis, return as adults to help the allies in post-war Germany.  This is the selection for this year’s Long Island Reads and is a unique addition to historical fiction of the period in its depiction of a chaotic and destroyed Germany.
