We welcome all English learners to join us in reading and discussing short stories. Helpful materials and information on how to join the discussions online or in person will be e-mailed to you upon registration. The book is available for check-out at the Circulation desk.

“The Blue Cross” by G. K. Chesterton

The goal of Father Brown is to deliver a valuable relic – a silver cross with sapphires – from Essex to Westminster. The goal of the infamous criminal Flambeau is to steel the silver cross. The goal of the head of the Paris police Aristide Valentin is to arrest Flambeau in England.

“The Secret Garden” by G. K. Chesterton

Aristide Valentin, Chief of the Paris Police, organizes a party in his beautiful house surrounded by a large garden. During the party, an unknown man is found dead in the garden. Father Brown, who is one of Valentin’s guests, helps to solve the crime.
