Thank you for signing up for our Live from BPL! Digital Lectures:

Monarch Butterflies, Service Learning, and the Environment

David Jakim will introduce live Monarch butterflies in their different stages of development and their surprising relationships with indigenous cultures, local plants, and wildlife. Monarch butterflies are an emblematic flagship species that herald our need to protect biological diversity.

Monarch migration is one of the wonders of the animal kingdom. These fragile creatures travel thousands of miles, and the full migration cycle from Mexico to northern New England. Without on-the-ground action putting milkweed plants that support Monarch butterflies into the ground, there is a strong possibility that the world will be missing this species come 2050.
