Program Description

Event Details

Walt Whitman once chronicled his own voyage across Long Island, from Brooklyn all the way to Montauk Point. This summer, we will be touring Long Island as well, discovering a bit about the history of the communities and landmarks across the island and meeting some of our local experts and historians.

From Breslau to Lindenhurst - Only the fact that it is often so unbelievable can explain the fact that some of Long Island history is not better known. Archivist Mary Cascone will tell us how a hundred years ago, the German town of Breslau sprung up on the south shore of Long Island, then grew into Lindenhurst today.  You will receive a link in the reminder email to attend the program.
